17 Things I Love about Sam
1. His music. Sam is full of tunes and willing to share them with others.
2. He loves the tops of mountains - both the view and the journey to the summit. It's inspiring.
3. He hugs his little sister.
4. He's a great coach. I appreciate his patience and enthusiasm when he helps me run faster or get stronger.
5. He wants to do the right thing and has a good, loyal heart.
6. He talks to his mom, even when it's not easy to talk to your mom.
7. He is always thinking and inventing.
8. He likes to laugh.
9. He works hard. Last summer Sam balanced two jobs, busboy at Fromaggio's and pianist at Wapato Point Cellars. Next summer he wants to build hang gliders too.
10. He likes to hang out at the beach and skip stones on the water.
11. He's fast. Fast as a runner, and fast to do his duty, especially as a priesthood holder at church. It is an honor to hear him bless the sacrament each Sunday.
12. He wants to fly. For a grounded mom like me, it's inspiring to hear about his love of flight. Makes me want to spread my wings.
13. He likes good food and cooking, from gourmet cheese and sorbet to cheesecake to deep-fat-fried candy bars.
14. He teases me about my read-aloud voices, especially Christmas-time babushka. It's fun to laugh together.
15. He loves his baby niece. Sam will be a good dad.
16. He perseveres at things that are hard for him - and isn't afraid to ask for help.
17. He is strong and brave.

Fun post about a terrific guy! I am so glad that Sam is friends with my boys; we love having him over to watch movies or play video games. I hope that "17" is a great year for him, and that he continues to celebrate his successes and fly above any challenges!
